Boyfriend

As of 8:09 am today, I have a boyfriend.

Not because some cute guy realized he "loves" me, but because my friend at the bus stop was super smiley this morning. When I got to the bus stop, he gave me a flirty smile saying, "Where did you come from?" I pointed towards my street and said, "From down there." He turned back around to face the street again for a minute, thinking, before facing me again and asking, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

Me: open mouth ready for the handful of Cheerios halfway to my mouth; eyes wide in surprise; slowly I nod my head yes.

My friend says, "Oh", disheartened.

But I laughed to myself and catch the eye of the other guy waiting at the bus stop with us, he's trying really hard not to laugh out loud.

I think you're going to like this

There is a guy that stands at one of my bus stops in the mornings. He's an older, mentally handicapped, but really friendly guy, and says hi to all the passing cars and any and all runners, walkers etc. If I'm running late I take the bus at his stop, but if I'm on time I'll run up the street to catch the other bus. (Lately I can't get up before 7:15 so I end up taking the later bus.) But usually he'll say good morning to Lisa and I, especially if he's having a good day, he'll yell, "Goooood Mooooorning Lay-deeesss!" really loud and wave. I've suspected that he might have a little crush on Lisa or me.

Well, this morning it was somewhat confirmed as we waited for the bus, he lamented to me that his sort of girlfriend doesn't want to be his girlfriend anymore. Then he asked me if I had a boyfriend. I probably should have lied and said yes but I feel bad lying to him so I answered truthfully. I knew exactly what was coming out of his mouth next and could have bet a million dollars on it, "Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

I had to decline telling him that he was just my friend.

But glad to know the charmers are into me...
