Hiatus

I seem to have taken an unintentional hiatus in blogging, and received an email from my sister and her roommate encouraging me to post.

I'm tired. I had a really busy weekend. My dear friend Meg was visiting from Provo and I feel like I saw all of Washington, D.C. all over again. We walked so much and saw so many things and ate so much good food I ruined my healthy eating plans every day. But it's always so much fun to have friends visit.

I have nothing exciting to post about. I had a lovely weekend. I realized why I like DC again. And I wish I had some kind of direction in my life. And I hope you're doing well.

I have plans to post about my funny office, but I always forget later what it was I wanted to write about. One of these days I'll make a note and fill you in.

Visitors

I love when people visit me (hint hint) and I don't even mind being a tourist for a bit. Liz is visiting from NYC with her brother and after work last night I met them at the Air and Space Museum before we headed up to Good Stuff Eatery. It really is "good stuff". I got the 'shroom burger (not feeling like meat last night) and we split a Peaches n' Cream shake. So delicious. It was one of those meals that despite being totally stuffed to the brim, we still wanted to keep eating. But maybe that was because the company was so fantastic. After dinner we walked all the way down Capital Hill, along The Mall and weaved through the monuments to the back of the Lincoln, and then walked up to the Foggy Bottom metro where I caught the train home. (I wanted to see how far we walked, so I mapped it out. 3.8 miles!)

Here is Liz and I at the Capital. I love her an can't wait for her wedding on Sept 10!

Evolution of a picture:

PS. The last time Liz visited me in DC was my very first weekend on the East Coast. (So almost exactly a year ago.) Let's all let her know that isn't acceptable and that she should be reprimanded! And, thank her brother for having an iPhone so he could take and email me the pictures.

Lacy's DC Visit

Thank goodness for Lacy and her new photographing hobby because we have lots of pictures from the weekend. Not only do these represent the fun weekend, but yesterday at work Lisa and I spent about 20 minutes going through them and laughing really hard.

Brace yourself for a lot of pictures.

Walking to the Metro on Pennsylvania Ave after work and stopping for some fun.

Saturday was spent in Annapolis.

Where we found a cool laundromat and took a plethora of bad pictures with the self timer. Here are a few. Click to enlarge but I'm not making myself large on purpose. You can do that yourself.

Lisa has a bad sense of direction. (Shhhhhh! Keep that a secret! We don't want any boys to know that until after they're hooked on her!) And, because our Annapolis trip was pretty spur of the moment, we hadn't worked out anywhere to eat before we went. So we decided to just trust the GPS to take us somewhere. (Bad idea.)  So, we tried to find a restaurant by the name of ______'s Cafe on the Harbor. What the GPS took us to was actually some old folks residential area with a restaurant that was going to be way out of our price range.  But, Lacy got this beautiful picture, we skipped out and ate at some crappy looking Mexican place that we thought was going to be good. What we got instead was bland Mexican food with a side of undercooked rice and a waiter that thought we were idiots. At least we had some Naval Academy boys sightings!

Sunday after church we went to go to Arlington Cemetery. Well, naps came first, and then a delicious BBQ dinner complete with peaches, tomatoes and cucumbers bought from Eastern Market and that pushed out Cemetery visit back and before we knew it, it was closed. So, we went to the Iwo Jima Memorial instead.

Meradyth, me (with HUMONGOUS hair), Lisa, Lacy.
Monday night we walked along the Potomac river in Old Town Alexandria after getting dinner at Whole Foods. Yep, we got dinner at the grocery store. And it was good.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend Lac, and for the pictures! Kocham cie!
