Girls Trip

Last weekend was Debbie's last weekend as an East Coast resident. We decided to go out of town for the long weekend and head up to Pennsylvania.

Highlights include:

  • our decked out bachelorette mobile (aka mini van)
  • visiting Amish county (specifically the quilt museum in Intercourse, PA)
  • seeing the Oscar Nominated Animated Shorts at a cool old theater (my favorite was The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore)
  • going to a family ward for church (especially the deacon who was half flirting with the girl at the end of the row)
  • our gorgeous bed and breakfast (especially the feather top king sized bed)
  • delicious dinner (but really I loved my dessert)
  • bachelorette games (specifically pin the kiss on Ryan Gosling)
  • catching the season finale of Downton Abbey (LOVED it)
  • massages (there was a heated table)
  • seeing This Means War (thought it was going to be dumb, found it surprisingly good)

This was one of my most favorite East Coast weekends. Maybe it's Pennsylvania. Or maybe I just need to get out of DC more often. But either way, I love all these girls. They're all fantastic.

Royal Wedding

Yep, we got up at 5am (thank goodness I live on the East coast).

Royal wedding: Kate Middleton on her way to Westminster Abbey

Watched the procession, starting with William and Harry's car around 5:15 or so, all the way through the wedding and the post wedding procession until about 7:30 when I absolutely had to get in the shower so I wouldn't be late for work.

Royal wedding: the ceremony

Believe me, had I felt any cough, sore throat, headache, tummy ache etc, I might have very seriously considered maybe calling in sick to work. (I probably would have considered it and then procrastinated that much longer getting ready before getting my butt in gear and getting to work.)

Prince William and his wife Catherine kiss on the balcony at Buckingham Palace

But I loved it. Every minute of it. From the insane hats (cough Beatrice, cough) to adorable little flower girls, cute little choir boys, handsome princes in their uniforms, and us loving the cute half smiles of Kate and Wills. It was a squeal-fest (yep I just said that to describe the early morning sleepy/giddiness exuding itself in our living room) and probably the happiest occasion for lack of sleep. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

And if you want to read something awesome, go read the live blogging of the Fug Girls. It really is hilarious. And because I love the Fug Girls, you should read this, and go through the slide show with commentary of the wedding. Pretty awesome too.

And I might just be a little obsessed with Kate the Duchess of Cambridge.

Girl crush

I loved Torah Bright (middle) when I saw her cute smile after she fell on her first run in the Women's Halfpipe on Wednesday.

And I was happy for her when she won gold despite not being an American.

So, because I liked her so much I started doing a little research. Read this article. And found out she's Mormon.

Now I have a total girl crush and want to be her friend.

Isn't she just so cute? She has such a happy smile and she's a good example of our church. I love that so much!

You can read more about her HERE.
